Esoma Solutions is an EdTech company in Kenya, dedicated to enhancing access to quality education through technology. We believe that a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy is essential for lifelong learning and personal development. However, in Kenya and across Sub-Saharan Africa, many young learners face significant barriers to quality education due to cost and limited accessibility. These challenges contribute to alarmingly low levels of foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) proficiency. The World Bank (2022) reports that 90% of children in Sub-Saharan Africa cannot read, comprehend, or solve basic math problems by the age of ten. Esoma Kids is designed with a bold mission at its core: to achieve the goals of SDG 4, which calls for inclusive, equitable, and quality education, while promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. Education is not just a pathway out of poverty; it is a powerful catalyst for reducing inequalities, aligning closely with the ambitions of SDG 1 and SDG 10. We are working on an audacious mission to provide a million hours of FLN through technology in the three years between January 2025 and December 2027. Through this, we shall have transformed the foundational learning outcomes for thousands of learners in Kenya and SSA.
